How StoryMoon uses AI

What is generated with AI

These parts of every book are made with AI tools, and we consider all of them AI-generated content under Article 50 of the EU AI Act:

• Story text and song lyrics. Written by the StoryMoon team with AI writing tools, then personalized for your child with an AI language tool (see below).
• Illustrations. The hero portrait and every page illustration, including the cover. They are drawn from the three photos you upload, the appearance details you confirm, the style you choose and the scene description written for each story.
• Song audio. The music and the singing voice. The lyrics come with the story (see above); an AI music tool performs them with your child's name in place.
• Film timing. The moments when pages turn and subtitles appear in film mode are computed automatically from the recorded song.
• Read-aloud voice. In “Hear the story” mode a synthetic voice reads the book's own text aloud while the pages turn by themselves. The voice is generated with AI text-to-speech; it is not a recording of a real person. The words are exactly the story's text, and a note under the “Hear the story” button says it is narrated with an AI voice.

What our team does

The StoryMoon team creates every story and its song lyrics with AI writing tools: we choose the ideas and direct the writing. The text is then personalized for your child: the name and pronouns are placed in, and sentence length is adapted to the age band you chose. An AI language tool helps with that adaptation under a strict instruction not to change the plot or the meaning of any page.

If you add a line about what happened this week, an AI language tool weaves that note into two pages of the story, following a brief written into the story for exactly those pages. Those two pages are checked like any other.

How the quality check works

Every generated image is checked automatically against a fixed list: the right number of fingers and limbs, eye color matching what you confirmed, likeness to the approved hero, no stray text in the picture, the scene matching the story's description, and nothing frightening or unsuitable for a child. Pages that fail are redrawn.

How we label it

This page is the full statement. Inside the product, the colophon on the last page of every PDF says that the story was crafted with AI writing tools and that the illustrations and the song were generated with AI, and the “Hear the story” button in the reader carries the note “Narrated with an AI voice”.

How your child's photos are handled

Photos are stored in private storage that is not reachable from the web. To draw the hero we share them, through links that expire after 15 minutes, with an AI image-generation service that draws it and an AI vision service that checks the likeness; nothing is copied anywhere public. We never use your photos to train AI models, and we share them only to draw your child's hero.

You can delete the photos, or your whole account, from Settings at any time. Deleting the account removes the photos and everything drawn from them. Details are in the privacy policy.

Which tools we use

We use third-party AI services: image-generation models for the hero, the page illustrations and the covers; music models for the song and the timing of its words for the film subtitles; text-to-speech for the read-aloud voice and speech recognition to time the highlighted words in read-along mode; language models to adapt the text to your child and to check the note about the week; and vision models for the automated quality check of every image. Our team writes the stories and lyrics with AI writing assistants. We choose models by how well they keep your child recognizable across a whole book, and we may change them.

How to report a problem

If a page looks wrong — an extra finger, the wrong eye color, a scene that doesn't match the story, anything that worries you — write to support@storymoon.com with the book title and the page number. We redraw the page or re-record the song at no cost, and if something inappropriate slipped through, we take the book down while we look.
