Terms of service

Last updated: 15 September 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and StoryMoon when you use storymoon.com and the StoryMoon app. We have tried to write them in plain language; if anything is unclear, ask us at support@storymoon.com.

1. Who we are

StoryMoon is operated by StoryMoon (operated by the SongReveal team) ("StoryMoon", "we"). Operator details will be updated upon company registration.

2. What StoryMoon is

StoryMoon creates personalized picture books in which your child is the hero. From three photos and a few details we draw a hero in the illustration style you choose. Each book has 18 pages, its own song, a film mode that plays the song while the pages turn, and a printable PDF. Books are available in English and Spanish and are written for ages 2 to 10.

Stories are written by people. Illustrations and the song are generated with AI tools for your child; see section 10 and our AI transparency statement.

3. Your account

You must be at least 18 and the parent or legal guardian of the child whose photos you upload, or have that person's permission. You sign in with a link we email you; keep your email account safe, since anyone with access to it can open StoryMoon as you. There are no accounts for children.

4. Plans and billing

StoryMoon is a subscription. Two plans are available:

  • Base — two books a month, one roughly every 14 days.
  • Premium — four books a month, one roughly every 7 days.

Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance. The price, currency and any taxes are shown at checkout before you pay. Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our payment partner and merchant of record, which issues your invoice. If we change a price, we tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to you; you can cancel before then.

Books are delivered on a schedule from the date of your last book. You can change the next story, skip it, or add a note about the week from the "next book" card; a skipped book is not made and does not extend your period.

5. Your first book and starting right away

You create the hero and start your first book during setup, before you subscribe. By subscribing you ask us to start delivering digital content immediately, during the 14-day withdrawal period that EU consumer law gives you. Once a book has been generated in a billing period, you acknowledge that your right to withdraw from that period's service no longer applies; our refund policy explains what we still refund.

6. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time, in one click, from Settings. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for: you keep access until then, receive any book already scheduled in that period, and are not charged again. Your library stays readable while your account exists.

7. Refunds

Refunds are described in our refund policy, which is part of these terms. In short: a full refund of the current period on request within 14 days if no book has been generated in that period; otherwise a pro-rata refund at our discretion; and if a book has a defect, we fix it first, free of charge.

8. Your content and your books

You keep all rights to the photos, details and notes you give us. You grant us a licence to process them for one purpose: making and delivering your child's hero, books, songs and films. We do not use them for anything else, and we never use them to train AI models.

The books, songs, films and PDFs we make for you are yours to read, print, download and share privately with family and friends, for as long as you like, including after you cancel. You may not sell them, use them commercially, or present them as a product of your own. We keep a licence to store, display and deliver them to you through the service, and to use anonymised technical information about how books are made to improve the service.

The story templates, the reader software and the StoryMoon brand remain ours.

9. Acceptable use

When using StoryMoon you agree to:

  • Upload photos only of your own child, or of a child whose parent or guardian has given you permission.
  • Not upload photos of other people, adults or public figures.
  • Keep notes and details free of anything hateful, sexual, violent or otherwise unsuitable for a children's book. We screen notes and will refuse those that fail.
  • Not try to reverse-engineer, scrape, overload or resell the service.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules. Where the breach is serious, we may do so without refund.

10. AI-generated content

Illustrations and songs are generated with AI tools and can contain mistakes: an extra finger, a colour that drifts, a scene that misses a detail. We check every image automatically, and during launch a person reviews each book, but we cannot promise perfection. If a page or song is wrong, tell us and we will redraw or re-record it at no cost. Generated content is labelled as such in the book and the PDF, in line with Article 50 of the EU AI Act.

11. Availability and changes

We do our best to keep StoryMoon available, but it may be interrupted for maintenance or by problems with our providers. Generation times are estimates. We may add, replace or retire stories and illustration styles; your existing books are not affected. If we ever discontinue the service, we will give you at least 30 days' notice, keep your library downloadable during that time and refund any unused part of your period.

12. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything that cannot be limited under the law of your country of residence, and nothing removes the rights you have as a consumer under that law.

Otherwise, our liability to you for any claim connected with the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect losses or for losses caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, such as a provider outage.

13. Ending the agreement

You can delete your account at any time from Settings; that ends the agreement and removes your data as described in the privacy policy. We can end it by closing your account for a breach of section 9, or with 30 days' notice for any other reason, refunding any unused part of your period in that case.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the country where the operator is established, without taking away the protection given to you by the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live. If we cannot resolve a dispute together, you may bring it before the courts of your country of residence or use the consumer dispute resolution bodies available there.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the current version. If a change is significant, we will email you at least 30 days before it applies, and you can cancel before it does.
